Laura’s musical programs weave together music and stories into engaging experiences for audiences of all ages. The following programs are ideal for: K-12 schools, Music Teacher Associations, retirement communities, conferences, libraries, museums, historical societies, and community concerts.

Songs of Heart and Place on the American Frontier: Inspired by Laura’s book, Music in the Westward Expansion, this program celebrates the diverse history of the American West. Audiences experience an eclectic mixture of fiddle tunes, indigenous flute improvisations, folk songs, Spanish ballads, old-time hymns, and cowboy lullabies along with works from 20th century composers such as Marion Bauer, Dave Brubeck, and Charles Wakefield Cadman. Laura sings and plays the guitar as well as plays the piano and the indigenous flute as she narrates the program with first-hand accounts and personal reflection. Heart and Place invites audiences to travel back in time as the music carries the listener across the vast landscape of the American West. (Program length: 45–60 minutes. ) Heart and Place Videos.

Piano Reflections:  A journey from Baroque to Now features a refined selection of baroque, classical, romantic, and contemporary works with brief introductions. Take a musical voyage with Laura as she performs a wide range of captivating solo piano music from composers Jean-Philippe Rameau, Joseph Haydn, Charles Wakefield Cadman, Amy Beach, Dave Brubeck, and George Gershwin, and Carter Pan. (Program Length: 45-60 min.)

Measures of a Life So Far: a personal musical memoir is a program shaped by a life in motion: from small-town Montana roots to a career of teaching, traveling, performing, and parenting. This concert program blends storytelling and solo piano, inviting audiences to reflect on the music of their own memories and personal touchstones along the way. The repertoire includes popular music, classical works, folk-style arrangements, and pieces by Amy Beach, Clara Schumann, Manuel Ponce, Aaron Copland, Ola Gjeilo and others. (Program Length: 60-90 minutes with optional writing/reflection workshop add on.)

Sing-Along with Laura  (for K-12 and adult communities)

Laura leads a  casual and entertaining hour of singing featuring standards, folk songs, musicals, and pop favorites. Laura provides the song sheets and the accompaniment on the piano and guitar!

*Each sessions includes gentle movement, vocal warm-ups, and wide variety of songs (standards, folk songs, musicals).
