  Take a trip down piano lane with Laura as she discusses and performs a wide variety of captivating solo piano music from composers Jean-Philippe Rameau, Joseph Haydn, Charles Wakefield Cadman, Amy Beach, Dave Brubeck, and George Gershwin.

Songs of Heart and Place: Music of the Westward Expansion (perfect for K-12, and community arts events!).

A look at the Westward Expansion through the lens of music. This compelling musical program, inspired by Laura’s book Music in the Westward Expansion: Songs of Heart and Place on the American Frontier, weaves together first hand accounts and songs of the 1800s American West. The musical lineup includes Northern Cheyenne courtship flute improvisations, Spanish Fandangos,  fiddle tunes, old time hymns, Stephen Foster favorites, cowboy songs, selections from Thunderbird Suite by Charles Wakefield Cadman, American Ballads by Roy Harris, and much more! Program adaptable for solo piano, or portable instruments with vocals (guitar, Cheyenne courtship flute, percussion instruments).
